| On 15th august a mounted sports event was conducted at the riding school facility of the hyd polo and riding club. |
| For 10 years the Hyderabad polo and riding club has provided opportunities for riders of all ages to enjoy games on horseback and to compete in national polo tournaments conducted all over the country. The Hyderabad polo and riding club had the honour of hosting a competition including 5 mounted games in which riders of all ages participated with great enthusiasm and their parents encouraged them with even more gusto. The Equestrian mounted Games are the best equine event for the children to showcase their riding talents and we were truly honoured to be involved. |
| Mounted games included ball and bucket, hacking, sack race, treasure hunt on horseback. Riders work in friendly competition against other riders. There were also competitions for children below 6 years old (like lemon and spoon race etc). The games require close communication between horse (or pony) and rider, and success depends on the accuracy of the rider and the cooperation of the horse rather than just raw speed. At their best, games are a ballet of communication between horse and rider. Riders pick up rings from poles with wooden swords, burst balloons from horseback and put flags into cones on the ground. The games are taught at clinics and in beginner divisions at HPRC, which are held throughout the year. There are also opportunities for experienced riders to play polo and get involved in other equestrian sports. |
